Considering all the massive coordinating that is necessary in Haiti it sounds to me that all in all we did do a tremendous job.   I would hope afterwards though there will be de-briefings involving as many people as possible, most importantly those on the front lines, who can give input as to how things might be better in the future.

 In terms of Katrina, I would like to add that one serious mistake was the closing of the Airport, Amtrak, and Greyhound a day prior to the mandatory evacuation and two days prior to Katrina hitting landfall.  I realize local transportation personnel needed to evacuate their own families but personnel outside of the region should have taken over any vacancies that might have occurred. This resulted in three major transportation arteries that were unavailable to thousands of us who wanted to get out of town.

This was good material, but you really should adjust the formatting as it is hard to read in this way.  With that said, I don't know that I agree in comparing the aftermath of 9/11 actions to the Haiti relief effort.  i would instead compare it with Katrina.  The fact is we will not treat the two the same and so neither should we here.  sell structured insurance settlement.
